Personality psychology is a very broad area of psychological study involving the observation of the concept of personality and how it differs among people. This area of psychology looks at the overall psychological dynamics of people's behavior, the psychological differences among individuals and the similarities found within human nature. This course aims to introduce students the major theories, research findings and applications in the field of personality psychology to help students understand the dynamics of our behavior. Students will develop an understanding of the trait, biological, psychoanalytic, humanistic, behavioral and cognitive approaches to personality. Students will also explore the nature of self and of personality disorders. Cultural considerations will also be discussed in this course. Upon completion of this course student are expected to comprehensively apply acquired personality psychology knowledge to their own lives.
