Description

Statics and Mechanics of Materials I is an introduction to the field of solid mechanics. It introduces topics including: fundamentals of statics using vector analysis; resolution and composition of forces; equilibrium of force systems; analysis of forces acting on structures and machines; distributed forces, concentrated forces, forces due to friction; centroids; moment of inertia; stress and deformation analysis of basic structural materials subjected to axial, torsional, bending and pressure loads.

Prerequisite(s)

MATH 201 Calculus II and PHYS 201 General Physics II.
