General Physics I aims to provide students with a fundamental understanding of the laws of physics with applications to our everyday life and students'major. Students will examine the following topics, including: Newton's laws; gravitation; mechanics, kinematics; energy and momentum conservation, rotational motion, and angular momentum conservation; simple harmonic motion; mechanical waves; fluids; ideal gas law; heat and the first and second laws of thermodynamics. This course also serves to develop cognitive and analytical skills, which can be applied in all majors. This course includes 10 lab sessions.
