This course introduces students to the major religions of the world. We will examine the historical aspects of the important religions including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Daoism, Confucianism, Shinto, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, as well as modern day philosophies. The goal is not only to gain a general overview of these religions, but to understand the different practices and philosophies within the context of their origins.
